The Abe Bailey Trust - 2019 Travel Bursary


Dear Students


Greetings from the International Education & Partnerships office!


We would like to encourage you to identify suitable candidates for the ABE Bailey Travel Bursary 2019.  The candidates may either be a third year students and above or staff of Junior Lecturer status who meets the following requirements:


1.    An above average academic record;

2.    Have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities;

3.    Be under the age of 25 or less at the start of the tour;

4.    Must be a South African Citizen


This is a very prestigious travel bursary that has opened up possibilities for many South Africans for the past 40 years.  They will meet 20 other South Africans on the programme in the UK.  Their academic achievements and leadership achievements need to be clearly demonstrated in their application as the selection is done purely on details provided on the paper application.


Applications have to reach the IEP Office addressed to Mrs V Naidu, IEP office, 8th Floor, Block D, M L Sultan Campus by no later than noon, Friday, 17 May 2019.  No late applications will be considered.


Applications will only be considered by the Institutional Selection Committee if the applicant has an endorsement by the Head of Department and the relevant Executive Dean.  The Institutional Selection Committee will meet on a scheduled date to rank the top three (3) applications which will then be forwarded to the ABE Bailey Foundation for consideration.
